Sarrah & Dalton
/An intimate schoolhouse ceremony, a rose petal send-off, and a first look that makes us weak in the knees. Sarrah and Dalton’s September wedding had all the charm we could ask for!
Sarrah and Dalton, both natives of the Carolina coast, met through mutual friends several times while living in Raleigh. It wasn’t until Sarrah tagged along with her friends to a 4th of July party at Dalton’s home in Wrightsville Beach that they finally hit it off.
They shared their first kiss that weekend on a bench on the street where Dalton grew up. Almost three years later, they would take their engagement pictures on the same bench.
Sarrah and Dalton chose a perfectly intimate venue for their guests: The Annex at Brooklyn Arts Center in downtown Wilmington, NC, a former schoolhouse connected to a church. Sarrah and her bridal party got ready in a classroom that has been repurposed as a bridal suite!
When it was time for the couple’s first look in the courtyard, friends and family gathered in the surrounding classrooms to watch from the windows.
Sarrah wore a gorgeous Pronovias fitted gown with lace detailing and a stunning train while carrying a very special bundle of flowers and keepsakes.
“Like most every bride, my bouquet was very special to me for many reasons. In June of this year we found out our dog, Oliver, had terminal cancer at the age of 5 and he passed away a little over a month before the wedding, so I had his dog tag pinned to the ribbon on my bouquet to remember him. I also had Dalton's great-grandmothers brooch attached to my bouquet and I wore my late grandmother's ring on my right hand.” - Sarrah
The celebration that followed in the charming schoolhouse featured sentimental toasts from friends and family, dancing, and an exciting surprise for the couple leading up to a gorgeous rose petal send-off.
“Two of our friends surprised us with specialty "fishbowl" cocktails similar to the ones we usually get at Red Dogs in Wrightsville Beach. This was such a fun part of the night and we still can't believe this happened!” - Sarrah
